Explores digital magazines with Zinio

I have wondered for awhile — could I switch from a paper magazine to digital format magazines (ezines)?  Starting in Feb of 2010 I decided to test this idea and I switched every paper magazine to a digital e-zine subscription using Zinio.com.

I started with my main 4 magazines that I subscribed too and within the first month (Feb) I expanded that subscription base to 6 two more found through the Zinio library.

The Zinio library is broken up into many categories like Science &Tech, News, Sports … or you can find your magazines through their search engine results.

Not only can you purchase subscriptions you can purchase individual issue e-zines.  There is absolutely hundreds of magazines (ezines) to choose from.  Most of the top magazines like National Geographic, MacWorld, and Playboy can be found as well as some unknown titles like The Malahat Review, and Prairie Fire.

Using Zinio you can access your ezines from their website, your desktop and mobile device (iphone/ipod/ipad). Zinio completely reproduces the paper magazine into the ezine.  You don’t miss a single article, photo, advertisement, or credit … it is all there at your digital fingertips.

With the options of highlighting text and leaving sticky notes in your ezines you will always find that one article or “recipe when really need it.

There is no wait time between the paper magazine and the ezine version publication date. As soon as your e-zine is ready for download/viewing you receive an email from Zinio.

What a difference ezines are compared to the paper versions not because one is paper and one is digital the differences are with how you read them and when.

I can quickly access any of my ezines my computer and iphone/ipod/ipad anywhere.  At home, work or on holiday — anywhere I go — I can enjoy my magazines.

With the Zinio’s iphone/ipod/ipad app I can access all my ezines when I am mobile.  Waiting in any line has become an easier task when I can read about the latest Hollywood gossip in People.

This exploration of digital magazines was to last 6 months and then I would make my final thoughts …. well after 4 months I am sold!  I don’t want a paper copy anymore!  I don’t miss the clutter of paper magazines sitting around waiting to be reread or recycled.

Magazines are much more dynamic in the digital ezine format.  Sync all ezines across computers and mobile devices. When a link to a website is given you may click on the link in the ezines to visit the website in your default web browser.

I will never lose a magazine issue again — your complete digital library is always available online.

We all can save thousands of trees by signing up for your digital magazines at zinio.com.

  1. Amazing blog! Do you have any tips for aspiring writers?

I’m hoping to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost
on everything. Would you propose starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option?
There are so many choices out there that I’m completely overwhelmed
    .. Any suggestions? Thanks!

  2. It is about us to choose between these apps and judge which one to
get and download. Therefore 7, when the colors tone on your
own own i phone cover appears a little drab it will be
    a sign it is a copy. i – Phone 5s has 1136 by 640 pixels, or 326
pixels per inch, in comparison to Icon’s 1080 by 1920 pixels.
